Alex

She wished it had been just a normal sleepover! It was a normal day in Cayman Islands. Natalie had been invited to Noelle’s house for a sleepover. She was really excited because her parent never let her go to sleepovers. You would imagine she didn’t have much expierience with one either.

The sleepover at Noelle’s house was extremely fun. The girls ate delicious pancakes, bothered her super annoying brother, went extreme fishing, and finally got into the swimming pool. They stayed in the pool for a really long time until the phone call arrived. Natalie and Noelle were in the pool playing dolphins in their own imaginary world, when suddenly Noelle’s mom came dashing outside and told them that they had to go to the hospital immediately! Natalie and Noelle were soaking wet from the pool. They didn’t have much time to get dressed, so they just put on whatever they saw first. Natalie and Noelle still had no idea why they were going to the hospital but they went anyway.

When they arrived at the hospital the doctor said that Natalie was the only one that could go into the room. She was kind of scared. When Natalie walked into the hospital room her mom was on a hospital bed with a little tiny creature in her arms. It took Natalie some time to realize that the little creature was her little brother who had just been born.

Natalie had imagined this moment much differently. Her whole family was dressed up formally. Meanwhile, Natalie was all wet in shorts and a tank top. Although this wasn’t the way Natalie wanted to remeber her brother being born it made it an even more special moment.

Kidnapped or Saved?

“Run.” That was the last thing her mother said to poor 10-year-old Sirena before Sirena’s mother was kidnapped. Sirena was never good at disobeying her mother, or really anyone. So that is exactly what Sirena did. Sirena ran. She dashed. She hurried. She raced.
Sirena stopped beside a rock and sat down to catch her breath.  She pulled out a picture from her pocket.  The picture was her older brother, Mark, and her father.  Mark had left for the army when Sirena was three. Then one day the letters from him had just stopped. They had gotten a call from the general when Sirena was about four and a half. Mark was dead. On top of it all, Sirena’s father had just disappeared last year.
“Sirena.” Sirena was so scared she dropped the photo. A few thoughts were buzzing around in her head. How does he know my name? Do I know that voice? No, that voice is too harsh.
“ Who are you?” She asked bending down to get the photo.
“Sirena,” His voice was much softer now. “Don’t you recognize my voice? It’s me, Mark.”
“Mark? We all thought you were…” Her voice trailed off as she turned around and look suspiciously at him. He is not him, she told herself. Although he does, coincidentally, look exactly like Mark. “ You're not Mark. Mark died. 6 years ago. We even got the call. If you are Mark, what is your favorite thing to do with me?”
He is never going to get..., Sirena  thought.
“I love to read to you.” His immediate response interrupted her thoughts.
“What is my last name?”
Again his answer had no hesitation, “Roberts.”
“What’s… What’s...What’s  my middle name?” No one knew her middle name except her immediate family. This, she thought, will determine if he is Mark.
“ Sirena. Seriously??!! Malaya. Now do you believe me?”
All of a sudden there was the loudest explosion Sirena ever heard but she didn’t even realize it because she was too busy thinking.
“You are Mark!” Sirena said surprised.
“We have to hurry. They are getting closer.” He said as a even louder explosion exploded. He turned around and started to walk away, fast.
“Who? Mark??!!” She said whiningly, having to break into a run just to catch up with him, “What’s going on?”
“I believe the Germans are starting World War 2.
